When does a musician’s impulse and artistic indulgence cross over the line into abuse?
Lynne d Johnson breaks down the creative license exercised by a number of artists in the hip-hop music scene with her piece on the Further Exploits of the Auto-Tune in Hip-Hop.
Her examination of the role of technology in music, especially as it pertains to Hip-Hop, is insightful and begs the question does auto-tune have a place in rap music?
As a voracious consumer of Hip-Hop, I find the question more than legitimate. Artistic abuse does not equal Hip-Hop. Get down with Lynne’s piece and weigh in as well.
