you ask a valid question, clarence! i don’t think any of us exactly know the answer to it, though. for me, it’s all about just keeping my nose to the grindstone, really. day after day, i’m out there, creating podcasts, vidcasts, and music, making blog entries, uploading photos to flickr, sending audio comments in to other shows, joining in the conversation on the various social networks, and all of that leads to making connections.
if your work is solid, people recognize that and respect it. they are drawn to it. simple as that, really. nothing can be rushed or cheated, at least not that has lasting value. sure, you can promote the crap out of something and grab some attention, but if there’s nothing to keep that attention, then all those people will turn away and probably not return. so just continue to work on yourself, and your art — whatever format it may be — and not only will your message develop, but so will your following. everything in it’s own time.
know thyself my clarence, and then we shall know you too. :)

We’ve talked about this a lot, and I know where the want for people to know the whole you comes from. But we can get to know alot about someone from just one aspect of their life. And I think that’s part of the fun, to know enough so you can discover more. Which really is what all this is about at the end of the day, the joy of learning about someone, something. It’s hard to connect the dots and hard to crossover, or as Chris Rock said, “You ain’t gonna find someone who love Seinfeld and Wu Tang.”
You are on the right track, keep at it and people will want to discover more.
for what its worth before you can let people know the Clarence brand, you need to do a little soul searching and free associating and discover and distill down just who brand Clarence really is. I know you know the truth, but what truth? Whats the essential flavor of your hustle, never mind the medium for a second whats, the essential message of Brand Clarence? Figure that out, apply 360 degree branding to it, and let your flavor roll free. The mediums don’t matter wont matter conquer them all, just be sure to distill the complexity of you down to one core brand and roll with it.
