Good one Clarence-kudos on maiden voyage. Clarence was Lumpy’s real name in Leave It To Beaver, wasn’t it? Look forward to more.

How about a direct link (URL) to the file so I can put it in the Gigadial feed for all the NE Casters to check out?

Nice podcast, Doc! :) Seriously, Clarence is a great name. I like it :) But kids will always find a reason to tease each other. My last name is of a Polish origin and might sound unusual, so they used to make fun of me and make up all kinds of other names that would rhyme. They’d even erase my name on my mailbox and replace it by one of their made-up ones. At some point I was secretly hoping my mom would marry her boyfriend whose last name was Süß (German for “Sweet”)… :) She didn’t, but I never felt the need to reinvent myself – I guess I was just too stubborn to give in or even admit that I care what people say. Oops! I guess now they know… :)

I feel weird with Lisa. Few women named Lisa have ever done anything of note, and its a watered down Hebrew name anyway. I always prefer to go by my last name, its longer, Latin and more dignified.

Clarence. Famous One. isn’t it funny how we brand ourselves, yet so many hate the ‘label’. I get the difference. I was born susan kay. Mom called me Sue. I changed it to suzi. Then after a life changing experience i legally changed the spelling to Suzen, and after my grampa passed (jule) i changed my middle name to Juel. This is to honor my papa..he gave me music, i am music…the gift is from him.
Self branding? I guess one could call it that, to me, it is who i am.

I feel like a proud pappa!

Exciting times ahead for this one.

Thanks to everyone comin’ through and showing me love! I’m digging the potential of DYKC?™ as an adventure. It really begs the question, if you don’t know where you come from, do you KNOW who you are? Stay tuned.

Nice job! I’ll definitely be tuning in every week. Re: names; mine means “ruler of the people” or “ever powerful” depending on where you look. My parents went with it solely for the E, since my great-grandmother’s name was Esther and they couldn’t quite reconcile slapping that name on a newborn. It’s worked out well for me except that the most famous Erica is some character on a soap opera, and women of a certain age tend to ask me about that. Alas!

Good to hear your first podcast. Nice delivery. You should tell stories, little vignettes sometimes, like Ira Glass’s five-minute anecdotes whenever you have one in reserve.
Cyrus-my grandfather’s and father’s name, given to me because grandpa had just had a stroke (the guilt name, just as my moms went into labor, lol). Also a king in Persia who liberated the Jews from captivity (Cyrus the Younger, I think), so right on with that.
When my dad was sick I insisted on being called Cyrus, but really I am Bryan.
Interesting stuff, names.

Hi Clarence,
I enjoyed this first podcast. It was real and short. Nice mix.

FYI, You can go into Hipcast settings and have it post the direct link to the mp3 file.

Man, so many comments and encouragement! I appreciate everyone supporting this DYKC? personal hustle!

Allen, thanks for the link, bruh. I’ll definitely get down with it.

Steve, good looks on the clue! I figured Hipcast had the option, but, I kept glossing over where it was. I’m glad you came through to listen as well.

Be easy :)

Michael February 20, 2007 at 1:32 PM

Luke Cage February 26, 2007 at 5:36 PM

Wow brah! I’ve been missing out on the greatness of brotha Bahlactus and his alter-ego Clarence. Nice way of taking your presence to new heights sir! Definitely be back for more!

Luke Cage February 26, 2007 at 5:40 PM

Actually, your alter ego is Bahlactus! Get it right Cage! -lol

Felderi Santiago March 15, 2007 at 8:54 AM

I hear you on the self branding! My parents thought it would be creative to merge the name Felipe and Federico (the name of my grand parents) to make Felderi. Try saying that 5 times fast, or simply try saying it correctly one time.

I like it because its unique, but it makes it tough at introductions. I always get the, “Your name is what?”, or the “I am sorry, can you repeat that”. It also makes it tougher to work in corporate world.

So when I was in HS, I was forced to brand myself as Fel. Not the most creative re-branding (thank my HS buddies), buy it works.

Cool Podcast! See you in Boston!
